Tutor.com
 Fee-based service that provides students with instant access to qualified  tutors for online instruction for as little as $20 an hour. Students can also arrange to find a tutor in their local area for face-to-face instruction.  Tutors who have undergone optional Kroll Background America Verifications are indicated by a checkmark.  People can register to become a tutor, set their own rates and schedules, and leave the billing to Tutor.com. Tutor.com provides the reseources to help tutors become successful.

Hire-A-Tutor
 This is a tutor referral service with a directory that is free to peopple needing to find a suitable tutor anywhere in the USA and Canada.  Tutors can advertise their services on the site.  According to the website, Hire-A-Tutor consists of independent tutors and organizations joined together under one umbrella organization. The benefits of joining Hire-A-Tutor include setting your own fees and hours and cost-effective advertising under the Hire-A-Tutor banner.  There are four different packages available including one that is free for a limited time.

Directutor
 This online tutoring service provides a way to "learn or teach what you know through the convenience of e-mail."  Tutors can teach classes varying from how to fix cars to foreign languages and have the option of setting the frequency of their lessons, the length/duration of a class, and what type of tutoring tools will be used (video, audio, email). Tutors can also determine whether or not lessons can be taken out of
order or in a particular order through a rotating system, and control how many students are enrolled in their class. The drawback to this system is how tutors are paid.  Tutors earn money based the number of students in their class. When a tutor has more than 500 students, lessons will include an advertisement.  Tutors get part of the money made from the ad.

 This service offers online tutoring, online homework help, and tutor-matching services that match students with tutors in their local area.  Tutors can enter their profiles free. Tutors list the subjects they want to tutor and their rates and availability.  They describe their personal, educational and professional backgrounds and complete background check information to become part of the database.

 This is a free service that connects tutors and students seeking tutoring help. The questionnaire for being added as a tutor includes hourly rate, number of years you have been tutoring, location, degree level, qualifications, tutor subject and level, tutor location (home, library, college, student's home, other), teaching style, references, and other information.

 This is a fee-based site designed to allow instructors in academic and non-academic subjects to easily promote their services.  Registration fee is $9.95 per year for individuals and home-based businesses, and $49.95/year for commercial businesses.  The site also has tips to help tutors build a positive relationship with their students and parents, as well as resources to improve tutoring skills.

TutorList.com
 This is a free site that connects students with tutors in their local area.  It is a service of Helping.org, a non-profit organization sponsored by the AOL Time Warner Foundation.  There isn't a lot of information about how the service works on the site, but there is a tutor registration form that asks for: general contact information along with length of experience, number of students tutored, price per hour, education, majors and minors and schools, certification, and subjects that you want to tutor.

 Tutors can register free to be in the directory for an introductory period.  Rates to remain in the directory are not disclosed on the website.  Information required for tutors includes states where you tutor, how you can be reached, your rates, exams you have taken, degrees and credentials, whether you teach online in real-time, by email or fax, in-person, etc.

 This site lists tutors and instructors that specialize in traditional academic subjects, test preparation, foreign languages, computers and music as well as non-traditional subjects like cooking, driving and sports.   Students can find a tutor in their location that best meets their needs.  The cost is $29.95 per year for individual tutors under one category.  Tutors register by providing contact information, a comment for a personal page, and credit card information.

Hometeaching Tutor  Services
 This service is promoted as a low-cost way for students to get tutoring.  It costs $9.50 to become a tutor on this service.  Tutors subscribe to a code that include agreeing that they won't take Hometeching clients for themselves, will be paid by Hometeaching and will not discuss rates or charge the students anything, and many other things.  Academic tutors (college or university graduate) are paid between $20 and $25 per lesson. Non-academic tutor are paid between $10 and $12 per class, which has to be completed to the student's satisfaction.  Online tutoring is paid at the rate of $12 per hour for a 60 minute session, $10 for a non-academic tutor.
